Silently Walking

This was written at a time when I felt very lost, I was questioning everything; religion, music, love etc. The words are a reflection of my inner dialogue and experience in self discovery. I would often go on long walks to clear my head, which is where the title "Silently Walking" comes from. The word "Silent" is not describing sound, but rather inner thoughts being silenced. It is about being comfortable in the unknown and relinquishing control.

Heavy thoughts burden your precious mind

And the questions keep coming your way

Sit beneath the tree and contemplate

For the answer's not coming today

I see the way you walk in silence

I see the way you walk in silence

Wondering where this road will take you

Follow the pavement and look at the sky blue

Every light you see is like a memory

Flickering and leaving as soon as it came

It's so deceiving, it's constant and beating

I see the way you walk in silence

I see the way you walk in silence

Creating the craters in your mind

Take a deep breath and they'll leave in time

Break it down to a level ground

And understand it is out of your hands

If you believed me, you might rest easy

Break it down to a level ground

And understand it is out of your hands

If you believed me, you might rest easy

Heavy thoughts burden your precious mind

And the questions keep coming your way

Sit beneath the tree and contemplate

For the answer's not coming today

Mistress

"Mistress" is about feeling like you are a salve to something. No matter how much you push forward, there is always that thing trying to pull you back. Balance is one of the hardest things to come by, either you have too much or too little. In the end, all you have control of is your efforts.

Morning is the best or the worst time for living

The sun works hard to wake my aching bones

They are numb from last night's run around

She gives me another day to serve her sweetly

I am a slave to her when she needs me

We are slaves until we balance her weight

She gives me too much or not enough

My hands are tied and rough or idle with nothing to clutch

But my own hands

She gives me everything to be uncertain of

Those memories in my head are always spinning

They are lights and shadows that I'll always keep

You're plump with possibilities and failures

Both fruits dropped from the very same tree

Without the sour the sweet just couldn't be

She gives me too much or not enough

My hands are tied and rough or idle with nothing to clutch

But my own hands

They're supposed to be my hands

When will they be mine again?

Daydreamer

A "Daydreamer" is defined as someone who has thoughts about something they will likely never achieve. Creatives are often seen in this light. This song is an ode to the question that artists are often asked, "is it worth it?"

Daydreamer why're you fighting?

Hope it just keeps you moving

Towards what you want most

Without it are you a ghost?

Daydreamer just close your eyes

See nothing in front or behind

Keep your gaze up high, never asking why

In the end does it matter?

While climbing up this endless ladder

Just to wait

Every ounce in me's spent

Under water just to get my eyes wet

Nothing can be free

No matter how much you want it to be

What can I be if I aim to please

It's my heart that's beating

My own heart to believe in

I'm still dreaming

My heart's beating

I'm still dreaming

My heart

Get your head out of the clouds

And your feet back on the ground

There's no where left to turn

So watch those bridges burn

Get your head out of the clouds

And your feet back on the ground

There's no where left to turn

So watch those bridges

burn

burn

Cause in the end it doesn't matter

While climbing up with endless ladder

Just to wait

Transitioning

The most important relationship you have is with your self. "Transitioning" is about the journey I went through in order to discover and foster that relationship.

We can't fight these moments that we try to hide

Free your mind of memories that you've left behind

Evening whispers answers

Or lies they're both the same

Nothing true is written

If you can't control your pain

Think, don't speak

Transitioning can make you weak

Stop making sounds

I cannot find the common ground

I drink every word, my thirst is still here

Waiting for the second it all will disappear

Tears dry before long

In time for this simple song

Just you wait

Solitudes’ a welcome Plate

Solitudes’ a welcome Plate

Solitudes’ a welcome Plate

Sum To One

"Sum To One" is about wether you are ready to love or not. There is always a risk when opening up to someone. The title comes from the idea that when you are connected with a person, the "sum" of both of you should equal one.

Smiles they split the sky

And your eyes they are the moon

Just when our souls fly

We find love all too soon

The young at heart are weak

And the wise they think too much

But both keep on their feet

Just don't fall

What does it mean to open up your heart?

Is it smart?

I know games are never meant to win

But, broken hearts will wane

Like the fading of twilight

Just drink it all in

It's real now

What does it mean to open up your heart?

Is it smart?

I know games are never meant to win

But, broken hearts will wane

Like the fading of twilight

Just drink it all in

It's real now

Where do you start

This is one of my favorite ballads with lyrics by Marilyn and Alan Bergman and music by Johnny Mandel. Jazz has played an integral part in my development as an artist. It is a language that will always be present in my and my heart.

Where do you start?

How do you separate the present from the past?

How do you deal with all the things you

Thought would last that didn't last?

With bits of memories scattered here and there

I look around and wonder where to start

Which books are yours?

Which tapes and dreams belong to you and which are mine?

Our lives are tangled like the branches of a vine

That's intertwined

So many habits that we'll have to break

And yesterdays we'll have to take apart

One day there'll be a song or something in the air again

To catch me by surprise and you'll be there again

A moment in what might have been

Where do you start?

Do you allow yourself a bit of time to cry?

Or do you close your eyes and just kiss it all goodbye?

I guess you could try

And though I don't know where

And don't know when

I'll find myself in love again

I can promise you that you'll always be

A little piece that no one can see

A tiny part deep in my heart

That stays in love

A tiny part deep in my heart

That's gonna stay in love

A tiny part deep in my heart

That stays in love with you
